Our
reality
The climate in Bonaire, unlike popular belief, creates cloudy skies in most months of the year and not very suitable for astrophotography due to the need for sufficient time to take long exposure shots, in honor of these circumstances it is the name of the observatory.
So it is not always in operation, so for a visit, sending a message or an email is ideal and then I can see if the conditions allow it.
What to expect from Bonaire Cloudy Nights
By visiting Bonaire Cloudy Nights you will have the opportunity to see and learn a little about telescopes, mounts, deep space photography, distances and if you are lucky, see the moon through a telescope or a planet like Saturn, Mars or Jupiter.
The reality is that to see those colorful images that illustrate outer space, we need to have very large instruments or rely on astrophotography.
Our Goal
As with any project, we strive to improve our knowledge and equipment over time. Since the inception of this idea, we've only had basic equipment, but something we definitely want to upgrade is the essential equipment for operation. Things like a good equatorial mount, a good APO telescope, and a cooled, high-resolution camera are important examples.
This way, we'll improve the conditions for the hobby and the results, since the island's natural climate, combined with the overheating of the current camera sensor, generates a lot of noise that's difficult to correct in post-production.
